Submersible pumps are designed to be submerged in the water. The pumps are centrifugal pumps and their impellers are designed to throw water outwards. Submersible pumps have backward curve impeller blades. Several impellers are typically connected to a single shaft. The water enters through the impeller’s eyes and gets thrown out radially because of the centrifugal force involved. While submersible water pumps are effective, it is important to understand that they are not designed the same and not all of them can be suitable for your application. The type of water

Before purchasing a submersible pump, it is important to know the type of water you want to pump. Depending on the type of water you are pumping and the location, the specification of your ideal pump can change.

 

Pump for clear water

If you want to pump clear water such as rainwater and looking to pump it to your storage tank, you will need a narrow pump with a maximum grain diameter of about 5mm. You will also need to check how much dirt will be in the water.

 

Pump for dirty water

If you want to pump dirty water, you will need a pump ideal for pumping dirty water. These types of pumps should function correctly, even with dirt and mud. Flow switches are of two types – the vertical switches are used in smaller pumps and often come in 10-inch diameters while the tethered switches are used to activate the pump and come in 14-inch diameters.
